Louisiana Solar Panel Fraud Claims
Across Louisiana, homeowners were sold a promise of energy savings, tax incentives, and reliable solar technology. Instead, many have been left with defective solar panels, misleading contracts, hidden fees and significant and unexpected financial burdens.
What's Happening?
We are investigating claims on behalf of Louisiana residents who were misled by solar panel sales representatives, installation companies and solar panel finance companies. These claims involve:
- Misrepresentation of Tax Credits and Incentives
Homeowners were told they would qualify for substantial federal or state tax rebates - only to later learn they were ineligible or the credits were significantly less than advertised. - Predatory Financing, Hidden Fees and Misleading Contract Terms
Some solar companies partnered with third-party lenders to lock homeowners into long-term financing agreements with hidden fees, escalating interest, or liens placed on their homes without full disclosure. In many cases, homeowners only realize the full cost of a solar panel system after signing a contract due to, among other things, hidden fees and finance terms that were not previously disclosed to the consumer. - High-Pressure or Deceptive Sales Tactics
Homeowners report being pressured to sign contracts on the spot, misled about performance guarantees, or told false information about the solar panels. Some solar companies make exaggerated claims about the financial savings homeowners will experience after installing solar panels. They may misrepresent the incentives, overstate the efficiency of the panels or claim the panels will pay for themselves much sooner than is realistically possible. - Defective or Inoperable Systems
Some systems are installed with faulty panels or without necessary inspections - leaving homeowners with unreliable or nonfunctional solar arrays and in some cases, property damage.
